Some people come to a job for the paycheck. Others come for the opportunity. Dawn O'Meara, MBSi’s Agency Advocate, came for the family —and twelve years later, she'll tell you she found exactly that. As a key member of the MBSi team, Dawn has built a career defined by connection, growth, and a genuine love for the people she works with every day. This month, as she celebrates her 12-year anniversary with the company, we sat down with her to learn a little more about the woman behind the role.

How long have you been with the company, and what brought you here?

I'll be celebrating 12 years with MBSi at the end of March2026. I was initially drawn here by a former employee who described the workplace as feeling like family — and that really resonated with me. I was also excited about the opportunity to step into a new industry and learn something completely different.

What part of your job excites you most?

Honestly, it's the relationships. Speaking with our agents, connecting with them, and learning from their experiences is something I genuinely look forward to. Building and strengthening those relationships overtime is really rewarding. And that extends to my coworkers too — we have an incredible team here, and it truly does feel like family. I love coming to work and being around these people every day.

What's one thing you wish people understood about what you do?

I think a lot of people assume I spend most of my time on the phone with agents, but the reality is quite the opposite. Our agents are usually in the middle of active work — whether they're driving to a repossession or in the process of hooking an asset — so there's very little time to talk. Communication has to be quick, efficient, and well-timed. There's a real skill to making every second of that conversation count.

Who has influenced or mentored you most in your career?

That's a tough one, because there have been so many people. It's hard to single out just one. Here at MBSi, both our senior leadership team and my peers have played a significant role in my growth. Everyone brings something different — a unique perspective, a depth of knowledge, a way of leading that's worth learning from. I've been fortunate to have so many great examples around me.

What's something you've learned on the job that surprised you?

I used to think repossession was pretty straightforward — a tow truck shows up when payments aren't made. But I've learned there is so much more to it than that. The stories our agents share have really opened my eyes to the level of risk involved in their work. A repossession agent wears many hats at once. They have to understand the laws in their area, be able to de-escalate dangerous situations, and navigate every encounter with professionalism and care. I have a deep respect for what they do.

What do you do outside of work?

I love spending time with my family — including my extended family, my nephews and nieces. I stay active with pilates, and I enjoy shopping. I also have a chocolate lab named Lambeau who I adore. His stuffed look-alike actually has a permanent spot on my desk!

What's something your coworkers might not know about you?

A few things, actually! I've had the opportunity to speak on adoption boards across the state of Arizona, which has been a really meaningful experience for me. I also used to help teach a self-defense class, and I volunteered for hospice. People might be surprised by that side of me.

What's a fun fact about yourself?

I once had dinner with a very kind elderly gentleman and had a wonderful conversation — only to find out afterward that he was Bart Starr:three-time NFL MVP, five NFL Championships, two Super Bowl wins. I had no idea who he was at the time! It's one of those stories that still makes me laugh.

Coffee or tea?

Iced coffee, always.

Thank you, Dawn, for everything you bring to the MBSi team. Here's to 12 years — and many more to come!
