Latest Innovation to RecoveryConnect Technology Platform Reports Violent Incidents and Streamlines Communication to Improve Agent Safety

Medford, MA, April 17, 2025 – MBSi’s industry-leading RecoveryConnect platform now includes a tool designed specifically to improve the safety of repossession agents in the field. The Violent Event feature allows clients to put a system-wide hold on cases in which violence has occurred, preventing agents from accepting them while they’re under review with the case originator. The tool ensures seamless communication of the issue directly to the case originator, giving them the opportunity to make informed decisions on next steps.

Violence against repossession agents has increased dramatically in recent years, and the industry is taking notice. The American Recovery Association (ARA) issued a statement in December 2023 that documented seven agent fatalities within six months. The 2024 North American Repo Summit (NARS) focused almost entirely on safety protocols and professional training. The National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) has discussed developing stronger consumer protections during repossessions.

Violence often occurs with known borrowers who have shown aggression to field agents in the past. Without an automated, trackable reporting system, agents face dangerous situations involving repeat offenders. MBSi recognized the need for a tool to enable agencies to share information about borrower behavior or potentially dangerous locations to help keep agents safe.

MBSi’s Violent Event feature, available within RecoveryConnect and RecoveryConnect mobile (RCM), enables agents to report violence with just a few clicks the moment they encounter it. “The Violent Event feature is something we’re very proud of since it can have such a positive impact on an industry-wide issue,” said Ray Peloso, President, MBSi. “By streamlining communication of a violent situation from agent to lender and keeping the full network informed, we can avoid dangerous cases being reassigned and give lenders the ultimate say in how these cases are handled. And – with surveys telling us that at least 80% of lenders would close a case where violence occurred – we know this tool can make a big improvement in agent safety.”
